I started my daughter on solids at about 2 1/2 months.. She was trying to grab at food when she saw people eating and she would open her mouth. I started giving her about 1/4 can/jar once daily and that was all she needed but now shes 3 1/2 months she screams when she sees someone eating and she eats a whole jar at once. I know solids are not reccomened till atleast 4 months but there was no other option.. She was a severe reflux baby and solids have helped improve this. Now my problem is that shes only drinking 100ml at a time when she normally drinks 200-250ml. Ive reduced her solids but she still drinks that little amount.. What can i do? (:

Solids have very little calories in them compared to formula or BM, have a look at the label. So the amount of solids the baby consumes rarely effects the amount of formula they drink until they are eating food with more substance. Babies go through these phases. I have known babies to reduce the amount they drink to 100ml and it stays that way, they never drink more than that. I recommend that you continue to feed on demand and let her have as much or as little as she wants. One of two things will happen - the phase will pass, or she will grow out of having bottles as her number 1 source of food and solids will become her source of food. Either way, this 100ml at a time thing will pass in a few months. Especially since she had/has severe reflux, and therefore likely food-pain associations, it is important that she be allowed to self-regulate her consumption.

Well u could try giving her fluids an hour or so before the solids, or incorporate it in between feed time. A spoonfull of food two of fluid that way she will not take a lot at once but u will increase her intake at the end of the day to a level u r comfortable with. I dont think trying to get her to drink alot at once will help or will be easy. i hope this helps it worked with a neice of mine.
Good luck.
