frizz is caused by broken hair. Why is her hair breaking? I'm not sure. Could be a few things. Do you keep it moisturized? Hair lotion is very good for that. It can pretty much be bought anywhere including grocery stores.

If you straighten it while its wet, it will also break the hair. If you brush when wet instead of comb it will break it.

If her party is in a week you can't do much about it being broken. You can try to use lotion to get it weighed down just a little, it won't do a lot though. If it doesn't, you can use gel.

As far as straightening goes, what do you use to straighten it? I'll tell you the process and products I use in straightening. First wash and condition well. I then add hair lotion. Blow dry while combing it straight. Add moroccan oil. Then use a straightening iron with a ceramic plate set at no more than 400 for course hair and no more than 275 for finer hair.

Then all you need to do is get a showering cap so she does not get it wet.
