My child goes to home daycare and she won't feed my baby any foods till 8 months. She is 6 months right now and we do it at home. She is at the top of the charts for height and weight. She eats great and loves her baby food and water at home. But my daycare states she can't give any food or water till she is 8 months old. Is this common?

Most of a child's nutrients should be gotten from breast milk or formula until 1 year old. Giving baby food, soft or pureed foods is just to get your child used to eating more solid foods. Some children have trouble being able to swallow solid foods until they're older. It may be a company policy just to be consistent with all children they care for. Also, too much water when they're young can fill them up so they don't eat well, and can cause problems with absorbing nutrients. You should be careful of how much water the child gets at this stage.

Yes she said its because she wants to give it time at home just in case she has any reactions to foods. And she said she is getting plenty of nutrients from formula and breast milk at this time.
