My ex-wife's mother insists on buying girl clothes for my nearly 3-year old son.

She also takes him to get mani-pedi with glittery nail polish. I have a 6-year old daughter, also, and it appears the mother-in-law wants my son to be a girl, too. She buys all his clothes in the girls' department, including his shoes (glittery pink things with bright sequins) My ex does nothing to put a stop to this. I don't feel this is normal for either my son, my ex-wife, or my former mother-in-law. I am at a loss as to what to do about it. I only see my kids every other weekend and for occasional school vacations, based on the parenting plan approved by the court. I feel someone has a serious screw loose here, but maybe I'm over-reacting.

Wow. I don't think it's a big deal to paint my son's toes if he wanders by while I'm doing mine and wants in on the action, but what you describe really does seem like they don't want him to be a boy, they wish he were a girl. Your poor son! Hopefully they'll stop that when he gets a little older and isn't just "baby" anymore. I don't have any suggestions to help you, but I don't think you're over-reacting to be bothered by this.
