Has anyone had to deal with their own family choosing their ex? I know that sounds crazy, but my divorce is 4 years post judgement. Even though he is a nice guy, I get sick of him being invited to my parents for dinners and being at my family events. My parents have told me if I dont like it, not to come. I feel absolutely terrible, and shunned, and havent talked to them in months over it.

My ex lives at my Mimi's house. He drinks, doesn't have a job, and doesn't pay child support. My Mimi will pay his child support when the courts are about to throw him in jail. she will cover for him even though she has told me he needs to go to AA. He was arrested last week and now she has hired him an attorny TODAY for the final custody hearing tomorrow. I have lost part of my family. I work at my sons school, go to school, and take my son to his activities so i don't understand why they won't give my son and i support. All i know is that if your family tells you that they do not want to take sides, that means they are not on your side.

I am so sorry Lanie, I dont understand it at all. All I can take out of it is that they are teaching me the kind of parent I will never be!

Part of my family is the same way.

I separated from my husband , and moved out with my 15 month old daughter at the time.

About 4 yrs later ...he started to become less and less a part of my daughter's life ..so i was talking to my own mother and venting and she told me that she would not pick sides and she doesn't think that i should be venting about the ex at all. Well , shortly after that he stopped coming around to see my daughter ...and i stopped speaking to my mother.

My aunt and uncle as well ...have him living with them right now, i don't speak to them either.
