I am not a fan of making names cutesy, or sound alike, or starting with the same letter, etc. or whatever for twins. They are going to be twins their whole lives, and they'll know it, so I don't think the names should be based on each other, but instead, should be individual, like they will be. I've heard lots of twins say they get sick of people assuming they are alike, they want everyone to know they are each their owner person, and things like that, so I would name them the same way as if I had them each separately.

I love family names, names with history, though that may not appeal to everyone. I hate trendy names and names that are traditional but spelled oddly to make them "different." To me, that just makes it look the parents can't spell properly. LOL

My name is a combination of my dad's first name and my mom's middle name, but it's all one word, with a capital letter in the middle, "TerriAnn." It's different, but not goofy sounding. That being said, nobody ever spells it right, and it drives me nuts, but hey, at least there was never anyone else in my class with the same name. My daughter has 4 kids named Hunter in her class - yuk!!!

So, anyway, if family is a big deal for you, think about names of grandmothers, great-grandmothers, aunts, etc. and see if any of those strike your fancy. My kiddo is named after both her grandmothers, and they both happen to be names of English Queens from hundreds of years ago, which fits in great with my love of history.

Don't sweat it - you will figure out the right names as you go along. And, congratuations, by the way!!! My kiddo would LOVE to have a sister, but she's destined to be an only child. What fun to have twin girls - I am very happy for you!

lol i think that was the main reason why i like isabella lol and yah sometmes i want to name my daughter after my name but something like tatiana because my husband wants to name his next son after him so why not use my name to but thank u for the compliment. and dont worry i love to know what the meanings too im always looking up stuff like that. and as for antonia my sister named her son antonio so tht would be a little bit on the weird side but funny. it is nice though.

You're welcome, Tiana! I actually really like both of the names you mentioned. LOL Nowadays, Isabella is being used a lot [ever since Twilight, it got even more popular], but Gabriella is a GORGEOUS name and not overused, IMO. :) I always liked the name Isabella [more history - Isabella of Spain, mother of Henry VIII's first wife, Catherine of Aragon...yes, I'm a history geek], but I've never liked Izzy which is what they seem to get called.

For some reason, when I read Gabriella, the name Antonia popped into my head - not sure if you like that one, but I think they go together nicely without sounding too much alike. Francesca is a pretty one, too. I love those old fashioned sounding names...they are just so fun to say. :)

p.s. Your name is lovely, by the way!

thank you so much. i never really thought of it that way before i always thought having twins should sound the same. i do have twin brothers with different names 'sergio& jose' sound nothing alike. they look the same but have defferent personality.so i really appreciate it. i do have 2 duaghters and 1 son whose name is still in the family so thats already taken for. so i guess im just going to get them to different names but something unique for their seperate personality and hope that they like it. but again thank you! no wonder when i told me husband these names ' isabella and gabriella' he wasnt too happy at all he hated that they sound the same lol
