I wouldn't be giving a 5 month old any type of cough syrup... natural or not. I highly recommend AGAINST medicating an infant w/out the doctor's advice.

What does your physician say? Generally, it is not recommended for a parent to 'modify' medications without physician's instructions.

I would not. I know that it's supposed to an all natural and drug-free cough remedy, but it's got honey and wheat in it, and you don't normally give honey or wheat to babies that young. Also, it's probably supposed to work by coating the throat, and a half dose isn't likely to do that properly.

If your baby has a bad cough, you should see your doctor. Coughs can be caused by lots of different things... some of them serious, and some of the requiring specific treatments.

No, I would call the doctor and see what the doctor says about giving the baby any kind of medication. You do not know if its too much or too little for his age or if he can have it at all.
