I started trying to potty train my daughter when she was 2 but she didn't get it until she was 4 1/2. If there's no medical reason for the delay, all you can really do is keep sitting her on the toilet and offer her praise when she does go. Every kid develops at their own rate. My girl managed to get potty trained before she started school, and that was really what mattered most for me. Try the reward system, get rid of the pull ups and make her clean up her 'messes', but do not punish her, that will only make things worse.

Has your granddaughter been checked by a doctor, my son was also 4 and still in nappies, I was reported as being a lazy parent by someone working in child development, my health visitor came round to see me and saw for herself everything I was doing to try to get him on the potty, she ran a few tests and discovered that the nerves in his back passage had not fused together propley and he did not know when he needed to go so therfore didnt see the point on sitting on the potty
