Babies over two can get it. My son is 2 and 2 months and he has it right now and is in the hospital on a ventilator and ivs and feeding tube and is sedated. So, not only babies under two can get it. And antibiotics do not work on viruses, so being on some antibiotics will do nothing. Please do research and know what you are talking about because some people are giving out the wrong information

First, RSV is a very serious virus for very young infants. Anyone can get it but most people do not know it because the symptoms are much like a really bad cold. It is very contagious and is oftentimes spread in childcare centers or those type of environments. It is also a serious condition for the elderly and those with a compromised immune syster.

For the person who thought it was only in infants under 2 years old, I am sorry but this is not so. My grandson will be 3 years old in 2 months. He ran a high fever and is on a nebulizer four times a day. Everyone can get. Some people get a little sick and some get really sick.

Well it depends. My sister in law's baby had it for about a month. An ex coworker of mine has a child that has to live with it. It's a condition.

He has been to the Dr ( I think once a week since Nov 2) They did a chest xray and blood test this past wednesday and all looked good. He is on breathing treatments and is now on a low dose of steriods. He finally seems to be getting better(got my fingers crossed and praying!) My daughter and I did catch it from him and it is bad on us , so I know he just felt awful! I think that he caught it from the daycare because one other child had it. She went from Similac to Target brand formula, he drinks it and is gaining weight...gets stopped up sometimes but I guess most babies do.I wont worry about the formula anymore. Thank you all for your help....I hope we all get over it this week, I am tired of coughing!

My oldest daughter caught RSV at two months old and was on breathing treatments every 4-6 hours until she was 8 months old and then thankfully it went away. From everything I've heard the amount of time it takes for a baby to get over it just depends on how the baby's body reacts to the virus. Hopefully he feels better Very Soon

Quoting Iris:

RSV is respiratory synithical virus and only babies under two can get it.. My son had it when he was a baby. If he is on some antibiotics, then he will be fine. The congestion could be from his rsv, not the formula. My son was on infilac( sorry cannot spell ) and that did not bother him..But since my son had it when he was a baby, he gets colds worse then any other child..

You need to speak with your doctor... adults do get RSV and spread it to children!!!

RSV is a virus his formula has nothing to do with it. It can take up to 2 months to recover from RSV. The fact that you know its RSV tells me it will be a while because he was sick enough to have test done. RSV is like a roller coaster you start to feel better then you get more sick. So you know RSV is a cold in most normal people. He didn't just catch it out of the blue. Someone you know was around him who was sick with it. That being said my doctors told me because my son got so ill with it *literally on his death bed at 10 months old* despite being a very healthy boy he is concidered high risk now along with premmies, and children with heart and lung issues. It sounds like because he had the flu he caught the RSV due to already having a comparmised immune system. I am a big believer... if you have a cough or sneeze you can't come into my home and I won't visit you. I hope he is feeling better soon. Remember it can take awhile to fully recover from RSV. Oh my husband and I also caught RSV and were better in less then 2 weeks. But again healthy adults its nothing more then a cold.

my youngest daughter caught it from my sister in law who knew no babies were suppose to be in her care while it was active but she acted like god and never told any of us until all our kids had it and it caused my daughter to get asthma..regardless i yankedmy kids and to thid day i hold it against my sister in law and she dont see my grown kids because of it..so selfish of her and she calls herself religious! RSV is very dangerous for little ones..the formula has noting to do with it..
