Why would you give a stimulant to a child that is having tantrums? You haven't said how old he is.
If he's between 2-4 then tantrums are normal!!

Don't give coffee or tea to children. The caffeine is not something they need. The best thing is water to drink and lots of healthy food, especially fruits and veggies. You didn't say how old your grandson is. Tantrums are very normal in young children. They tend to just grow out of them. Right now you can help your grandson by loving him and being their for him. Kids copy what they see. Do you best to set a good example of how to act. Understand that tantrums often come from being tired, hungry, frustrated, overwhelmed, etc. You can avoid a lot of tantrums by knowing what is likely to trigger them.
