My husbands family

I really do not get along with husbands family and I really don't like bringing my daughter around them, but I know I have too. My nieces are brats and worry about my daughter around them. My sis in law never asks about my daughter and claims I don't allow her to hold her. Which is not the case. Father in law pays more attention to the other grandkids. How do I cope when I do not like visiting with them?

So why doesn't your husband tell his sister to shut the hell up? I don't think that is funny either. There is a certain amount of teasing in some families but to make cracks about child abuse is uncouth.

My nieces have always been the center of attention and now have to share the spotlight. My sis in law says stuff out loud which is rude. We were all out to breakfast and my daughter started to cry a little and my sis in law loudly says stop beating your daughter! Don't find that funny one bit. She does it all the time.

My daughter is 9 1/2 months. My husbands family drinks a lot and teases way to much. I did not grow up in a family that teases. But oh boy if you say something back they get all so offended! I don't want my daughter around that. My nieces have no rules and do not respect adults and are very rough. My husband luckily is nothing like them at all

Why do you worry about your child when in the company of her cousins? How old is your daughter? If you fear for her safety then by all means supervise them at all times. Maybe they pick up on your disdain and choose to pay attention to the others who are more accepting and invested in the relationship. You married into this family, you must have something in common with them. Start small, ask questions about jobs, help with dishes, engage your nieces in conversations.
