My baby girl came out early due to rupture in the membrane. She came at 34w2d, 16 july. She was 2.41kg when she came out (scanned inside 2.5kg). The hospital couldn't find anything yet they had her on antibiotic drip and took lots if blood for testing. While they encouraged BF they refused to let me feed even when they couldn't find anything on me or her. They decided to take it on to themselves to feed her formula! She was in the special care for 3 days then they refused to let her come home with me cause then she had jaundice on the 4th day.
I believe that the care and love deprived is what caused my preterm baby from growing as fast as my other 2. She has lost weight rather than gained. She is on partial BM and Formula (Friso). Only because I need her to grow. Otherwise iv got the milk. It's sad when i can't exclusively BF even if iv got enough.
It all depends on the gynae's experience. I was told to delay my labour even after the rupture. And I never saw her after the initial assessment at the emergency. This is all at the delivery suite. Then I was informed that it was due to the delay after the rupture that they had to keep the baby to monitor as there could be infection that has passed while in the womb since the water had broke!!!!! Seriously! I knew that and I'm not even a doctor!
Now she is constipated - I have to assist her with her bowel movement, she grunts, has cramp like actions and pulls her legs towards her tummy. Tried massages, warm towel, colic, change of formula, watched my diet for BM, castor oil, eucalyptus oil for baby, all worked for a short while. I haven't tried the prune juice though. She still isn't putting on any obvious weight - she feeds well but still ....I'm so stressed now she is still so tiny. :( pls help!
