My infant sleeps all day but screams for hours at night. Help!

I'm a single mom so I have very little help and I feel like I'm going to lose my mind. My 5 week old daughter is impossible to try to keep awake during the day. She wakes up for feedings (bottle feeding: which she falls asleep in the middle of and usually winds up only drinking 2 of her 4 ounces of formula) and goes right back to sleep.
Per Dr's suggestion, I recently changed her formula from Gentlease to Nutramigen (2 days ago, for the probiotic factor it offers) I know she tends to have pain when she has gas build up so, I've tried gripe water, homemade boiled bay leaf & sugar water and homemade boiled anise seeds & sugar water. The gripe water did nothing to help. The homemade sugar water seems to help her pass gas with more ease, but for some reason, every night like clock work at 10pm she wakes up and screams and cries for 3-4 hours, kicking and flailing her arms around as if she is in pain and I just don't know why. She isn't passing gas, she is fed and dry. When she IS awake, she seems to hate being awake and she cries and fusses. She never laughs and doesn't smile (not at anyone, anyway). Doctor says she's perfectly healthy, but she seems so unhappy and is SO COMPLETELY different from how my son was, when he was a baby. Granted, that was almost 8 years ago, so maybe I'm a bit out of touch, but I'd certainly remember if HE were ever as unhappy a his baby sister seems to be. Any advise or words of wisdom out there? You know the expression, "If ya can't beat 'em, join 'em"? Well, more often then not; pretty much on a nightly basis, I find myself joining in with my daughter during her hysterics :'( Help
