My IUD came out after sex, can I get pregnant?

After my husband and I were done having sex I went to the bathroom and got the thought of "did I take my tampon out" so when I felt around inside of me for the string I pulled what I thought was a tampon string but it was my IUD string. The IUD came out and this was probably 10 mins after sex. What are the chances I could get pregnant? They say sperm stays alive inside of you for 3 to 5 days, could I get pregnant? Or worse could me pulling the IUD out myself hurt my cervix?

I suggest going to the store and picking up the morning after pill. It's unlikely (especially if you had the hormonal IUD) but depending on your body it is a possibility.

I think it is unlikely that you will become pregnant because the IUD keeps the uterus wall thin but if you really want to be 100% sure then go to the GP and get the morning after pill which can be taken up to three days later. Then book an appointment at the family planning centre and either have the IUD put back in or get another form of contraception.
