I am married mom of a two year old and a stillborn son. I am a bit of a fertile fertile as my son was conceived on birth control with a backup method. After my son passed we decided to try a more permanent form of BC we opted to get the Paraguard. Insertion was a breeze. No pain. It did feel awkward for the 2 weeks after with some spotting. We were "busy" one night when he stopped suddenly and groaned in pain. He checked me and noticed the bottom of the damn IUD sticking out! We embrace the idea and desperately want another child, but NOT RIGHT NOW!! I just gave birth in October!!

Has this happened to you?
What was the outcome?
Did you get another IUD placed?
Any advice at all will do. THANKS IN ADVANCE!!

So I went to the doctor and he said it wasnt falling out it just wasnt working for me, so i just had it removed. I feel bad about giving it 3 weeks, but it wasn't comfortable at all... It was burning too.

It can happen. It shouldn't be a big deal, but you do need to talk to your doctor about it so that you can get checked out just to make sure there is no damage, and to discuss your options for the future.

All of my experience is with Mirena--very similar to Paraguard, but still different.
MY IUD has never come out, but I know a woman who's did, and I don't think it is all that uncommon because I do remember my doctor warning me that it could happen. The woman I knew who's IUD fell out did get another one, and had the strings clipped shorter.
I've been using Mirena IUD's for just under 10 years. I will be having my second one removed, and my 3rd inserted in January. Personally, I love it--very few side effects aside from not getting my period every month.
