My kids hate their dad

My kids hate going to their dads house and the baby sitters that is his mother. My 4 year old cries and tries to chase my car down when I try to go to work. My 9 year old never has anything good to say about him. It completely breaks my heart every time I have to leave them. We have a shared parenting plan and It has been nothing but a nightmare. I ask my 4 year old why she does not want to go there and she says it's because daddy and his girlfriend spank her an slap her in the mouth. My 9 year old says her dad loves his girlfriend more than them and drinks almost every night. His girlfriend actually went to my daughters school and introduced herself as my kids step mom and tried accessing my daughters school records and tried meeting her teacher. I found this out upon a visit to the school. The ladies that sit at the front desk told me all about it, but did not grant her information because she was not anywhere on the paperwork. I am not sure what to do at this point. Any suggestions?

Get them in counseling... preferably with a counselor who is willing and able to testify in court. If his girlfriend is smacking your kid... I'd press charges against her. Unless there are bruises though.. you 'might' need the testimony of a legit counselor confirming the story to make the charges stick. Also get and talk to a lawyer.. now.

I did check with the school counselor on other counselors in our area. He did not know of any others. He was the one who gave me the advice to find another counselor in the first place. I have medicaid insurance. My kids are covered under my ex husbands insurance and medicaid will not qualify them because they are not a secondary insurance. My ex husbands insurance does not cover mental health.

Do you not have medical insurance that would help cover the cost of the counselor? Are there any free or low cost mental health clinics in your area?

Talk to the school counselor yourself and see what, if anything, is available to you.

My 9 year old talked to her school counselor last year, but school just started back up. I told her if there is anything she needs to talk about to go to him or a teacher. There has never been any bruises found so children's services will not do anything. My youngest starts pre school this year so hopefully she will tell her teachers what is going on. I looked into pricing on children's counselors outside of the school system and they charge $300.00 per session. I do not make that kind of money. I have talked to 3 different lawyers about my case. They all say I need someone like a counselor to testify in court. I have fears that if I bring that up in court they may say I am just trying to start problems and throw it out. Some judges do not care who is slapping your kid around, so not sure if I have a case.
