Hi there my 18 month old has Hydrpcephaul she has to have CT scans /MRI scans they use a anaesthetic which is NOT A DRIP IN THE ARM, its usually mask then the child goes to sleep with the anaesthetic doctor there .All the best

My daughter had an MRI 2 weeks after birth and they gave her an oral seditive then placed an IV.. the oral seditive was enough for her but not sure if your son will need more

I just did the sedated MRI in May. They wil insert an IV and give sleepy medicine it will last for about 90 minutes. Easy transition and sleepy for a day or two. Just remember keep yourself from freaking out it will keep your little one calm. It will be fine.

I think they will heavily sedate him (not completely asleep) to start to make sure he stays still. That's what they did with my son when he was 5 months old.
