Just a brief update - he's sept with me since he was a baby for all of his naps & a lot of nights. Now I'm trying to get him to stay in his "big boy" bed but he says he doesn't want to be a big boy & keeps jumping back in with us, after I've had to "sleep" him in his own bed. 1st I let him fall asleep in our bed(1st mistake perhaps?) then I carry him into his room/bed but he wakes & I'll stay 20-30mins till his out again. I've bought the cool doona cover etc but nothing so far is working. Plz help. Signed tired.

Yes, you have raised some very valid points there. Perhaps I should tackle 1 issue at a time & deal with teaching him to return to his bed first & once that is in place, then focus on my having to "sleep him" in his bed together. Thank you for taking the time to respond.

You just have to set the limit. If he knows he can keep coming back into your bed he will do that. If he knows that every time he comes to your bed he gets put back into his bed he will eventually stop trying and will realize that you are not allowing him to sleep in your bed. If you want the boundary to be his bed then you have to enforce that or that will not be the boundary. It will take work. You are going to have sleepless nights. He will keep coming into your room.....but if you stick with it and keep putting him in his bed EVERY TIME then he will start to stay in his bed and go to bed in his bed without you having to stay until he is asleep. You are breaking the previous routine......it is going to be work to break that routine.....it is going to take you being consistent.......it is going to take time. The more you give in the harder it will be to break the routine and the longer it will take to break it.
