I was born on 1st August 1947 at an address in Catford se london. I was immediately transferred to Lewisham hospital because they obviously didnt know about my arms, not having scans in those days. Growing up in se london i went to a comprehensive school, enjoying the majority of my time there. I was a House Prefect, School Prefect, Captain of the table tennis team. Participated in the Duke of Edinburghs Award scheme. As a child i was given splints to wear at night which was trying to straighten the angle of my hand out. basically the Doctors know what they were doing!!!! I would inveriably slip my hand out to make it more comfortable! I left school at 17 with an average education. I was married at 18 and then had 2 children by the time i was 20. We then over the next 25 years had 6 more! They now range from 22 to 49 approx. we also have grand children. The purpose in my writing is to inform you that life has ups and downs, obviously! But dont let spoil your life. Mind over matter is more important. What is the point in wishing your life/body was different. If it is possible to do something about it, then do it. If not then accept your situation as it is. Just because your child is different, its not the end of the world! Just adapt to the circumstances on each occasion.
