My seven year old is becoming a teenager ... whatever!

My daughter yesterday asked if I could buy her some pimple cream for a spot on her chin.

This morning I asked her to get on her jacket for school and her response was: 'Whatever!'

She then asked if she could take her teddy to school and when I said it was fine she replied: 'Awesome'.

Oh no, my baby is growing into something that I don't quite think I understand. Soon she'll be calling me a tique (as in antique).

She doesn't watch much tv, she's a darling who cuddles scores of stuffed toys when she goes to bed yet she's getting this 'tude (attitude) from somewhere.

How can I stop it ... can I stop it? I don't want my baby to grow up. Whaaaaa!

U are so right Louise - I don't want her growing up too fast. I don't think I'm a role model that promotes bad attitude in her - i'm pretty laid back and prefer to be kind than well cool i guess, i think what might happen is that I let her get away with it a little too much. Sometimes I'm just too tired and I just let things go. she probably gets some of it from school - the pimple cream though?

She is getting this "tude" from somewhere, either from you or another female role model in her life. Just try to ignore it and hope that she returns to her normal sweet self. There is nothing worse than a young girl trying to act alot older! Yuck! Try and keep her a baby as long as you can. Its a big bad world out there and being 7 is fun!
