My Son comes home and does not call when he arrives

My son comes in town and stays with his sister that he says its more convenient. I have always said when he gets off a plane just to let me know he has arrived. Today he came in at 9:30 pm and it is now 12:00 noon and I have not heard from him. His dad lives near the airport and his sister lives two blocks from the store that we own . I did not get any call. I feel I am being ignored. This has been happening for a very long time. I have spoke to him about it but it continues.
Any suggestions?

While it would be courteous for him to notify you, it is entirely up to him. Perhaps he felt that 9:30 pm would be too late to notify you?

If you would like to make sure he's ok, you can always contact him after his appointed arrival time.

My mother always wanted me to call before we left, and after we arrived, even if we were not visiting her. That, to me, was a bit much, but it takes me nothing to text and tell her "'We're safely on the road", or "we've arrived". But, it does irritate me that, at the age of 43, she still thinks I need to check in with her. Perhaps that's how your son views it, and he's not as inclined to take the quick step that I do with my own mother.

Either way, sounds like you're not going to change him, so you start taking the initiative. If he's supposed to have landed at 9 pm, text him at 9:30, saying "hope your flight went well, love you, mom" and leave it at that.
