My son doesnt take care of himself...grooming.

My son will be 14 next week. He's a wonderful young man. The only thing I can worry about really is that he could really care less about taking care of himself. He has ADD, Im sure that doesnt have anything to do with it, but it makes me wonder. He's very shy, only has very very few friends, and gets emotional sometimes. I ask and ask for him to brush his teeth, take a shower, put on deodorant, and so on. Ive had him pick out his own bathroom supplies, tooth brushes. Today I set him up...I put the tooth brushes a certain way as well as the tooth paste. I happen to only look at the tooth brushes. His was moved and wet. But I didnt look at the tooth paste...well it wasnt moved. Im at the end of my rope. Ive tried everything, Ive asked, begged, even threatened him. Ive told him what other kids would say and think. I do not want for him to ever get hurt or embarrassed. I worry. I love him he;s my one and only. What do I do? Im not even sure what he does or doesnt do in the shower. Please help.

Often failure to care for personal hygiene can be a symptom of depression. I would speak with his doctor about it! Also, is there a man arou who could talk to him about these things? Sometimes a nag from mom is nothing compared to a man-to-man
