Like Jodi said... he'll get used to it. My 7 year old has only seen his father maybe a dozen times... it's just normal life to him.

Even if he saw him every other week, you'd still be picking up pieces. You can't control the other parent, but you also can't just cut them out altogether. Your son will actually eventually get used to it, I promise you. My son is now 17, and for the last 5 years has only seen his father maybe every second month. However, he is old enough now that he calls his dad on the phone here and there.

If you don't already have a court order for custody, visitation, and child support... get one. Then you focus on your child and his emotional stability in spite of how his father does or does not act. Counseling and/or another positive male role model can really help w/ that. As hard as it is on both of you... you do not have the right to cut his bio father out of his life... so you work on empowering your son instead. Keep the focus off of what his dad does or does not do... certainly acknowledge his feelings on the subject, but the more YOU dwell on it... the more he will as well.

The law says that. You don't legally have the right to just cut dad out. So yes, you have to deal with it.

"have someone that treat my son like he is his"

He is his son.

thank you dove and I am in the process of the child support thing and I know that he will want rights to see him I don't deny him of that but I don't like picking up the pieces when he leave my son hanging for months weeks at a time'
