My son is 3.5 months old. He eats 6 ounces of formula every 3 hrs. Plus 6 tsps. Of cereal in the bottle for acid reflux. I feel I need to up his bottles. Is 7 ounces and cereal too much?

Solids should not be offered until baby is sitting up right unassisted, full and complete head control, and shows interest in food. My daughter at 6 months showed all these signs, and wouldn't take baby food (also homeade) so I offered again at 7 months. No go. She really didn't start solids until around 8-9 months which is fine. It is only for practice anyhow, and breast milk or formula should be their main source of nutrition.

Then I wouldn't sweat it, if he seems hungry feed him. I think 4 months is too young for solids, the reason you put cereal in the bottle is different Solids usually start at 6 months and are just for fun until they turn one. Ultimately follow your doctor's advice.

no he eats about 30 oz of formula a day. He eats about 5 bottles a day because he sleeps thru the night. he will wake up around 4am but he usually goes back to sleep after a diaper change. so he eats between to 36 oz a day.

he was 8lb 16oz at birth and is now at about 22 to 23 lbs his dr does not seemed concerned about his weight or how much he eats.

I'm not a doctor, but i am a mother of 3 boys with 1 on the way. My oldest was 2lb at birth and he developed acid reflux it's when they can't keep the milk down. Adding the cereal in the bottle thickens the milk for them to keep in down. My son would wake up in the middle of the night after a feeding with the milk coming out his nose, choking. It's normal for babies to have these moments when they want to eat every 2-3 hours. We would burp him real good have him in an upright position for at least 30mins after each feeding then lay him down. They do grow out of it but it was scary for us at first.

Kiss you baby for me. Never let him go :-) he won't be a baby forever to savior these moments because before you know it he will be wiping your kisses off, asking you to stop embarrassing him LOL. Not sure if you have other kids but it take a while for some babies to get use to eating with a spoon. Food in their mouth on their gums feels funny, so even if you try to feed him here and there he will get use to eating with the spoon. I remember the morning Landon passed away i fed him rice cereal and bananas and i couldn't get that food in his mouth fast enough, it was too cute. I am really trying to be strong. You know the saying GOD doesn't put things in front of us we can't handle. HE must really think i can handle this and i don't want to let him down. I know he's ok and looking down on us. I know someday when we see each other again i will never let him go. Now i have a new baby to love up. I have 3 boys and this pregnancy everyone is hoping for a girl. I want my baby to be healthy and happy. This baby will never replace Landon but i'm excited to meet this baby to hug kiss and squeeze

He eats 48 ounces of formula a day? That's over 900 calories. Have you discussed this with the doctor? Maybe the acid reflux stems from over filling his tummy. I am not his health care provider and I am sure you are doing everything you can to feed and care for your baby. How much does he weigh now? What was his birth weight?

Ya. When he turns 4 months old I am going to give he some baby food. I have already started making some :)
I am actually cuddling my baby right now. I have no idea what you're going thru and I couldn't imagine. I know it will take a long time but I know you will be ok. I can tell you are strong. Just cherish the memories you have of your sweet baby. You will be with him again some day.

OMG, i love when babies are fat and just fat..LOL they are so cuddly. That what i miss most about my Landon. He was so juicy LOL. You can hold them all day and they don't care. I loved when Landon would fall asleep in my arms. I would just stare at him and kiss him all over. I think i introduced Landon to baby fruit around 4-5 months. Some apples and bananas, nothing big just here and there. He loved it. Landon had acid reflux too and he was eating cereal in his bottle.

Thank you. i need all the prayers and support in the world. Just found out i'm 7wks pregnant. Trying to be strong for this new baby, missing my baby Landon and also being mommy to my 6 and 5yr old boys is very hard.

As a mom we instantly become superwoman will super powers only other moms know about. The only thing that can happen is that your baby boy will get fat, chunky and just adorable.

I don't think so. Babies have spurts where they want to eat every 2-3hrs. If he's acting like he wants more then give me more. Sometimes he will drink the whole bottle and sometimes he won't. Sometimes he will eat all day and sleep all night. That is how my 6 month old son was(He passed away Jan. 4th) I believe babies have their ways of telling you what they want, and as moms we know we just second guess ourselves.
