my son is 17 months and has a 102.2 degree fever

he is acting normal but his teeth are cutting thru in the back???? is it normal for a fever of a 102.2 ??

I responded to your first post on here, but now I can't find it anymore.

If he's acting normal.. I wouldn't even medicate that temp except at bedtime (my kids always spike while they are sleeping). If it gets hotter or he's super cranky I'd medicate during the daytime as well.

He could be in the beginning stages of an illness. I'd most likely let whatever it is run it's course, but if he gets considerably worse or the fever doesn't break in 2-3 days I'd call his ped.

Keep him comfortable and the fever under control (102 IS under control for your average kid at that age). If he's still sick on Monday give a call in to ease your mind.

A fever is never "normal". Give him whatever fever reducer you choose to use and make note of the time. Continue to check him every hour or so for the temp to return. if it drops and returns for more than 24 hours, call the ped.
