My son is 4 ans he has Cerebral Palsy and he needs to gain weight, He was doing the BOOST FOR KIDS, start at 1 yr old because he was 13 pounds, and he was doing great on it,when he got to age 2 1/2, they told me he needed to lose some weight because he was to fat for his age, but now it seems that he is not anymore. He just started eating table food for at least 2 months now, but I don't feel he is getting enough nutrition he is skinny and I am feeding him three meals a day and snack.

It does sounds like a sensory issues, My daughter has the same she has problems swallowing and chewing and wont have any foods or solids or nil in mouth, I tube feed her and thats the only way she will have her fluids. Is he in any therapy like OT or speech.

Well, he hasn't seen a nutrionist in the past year, because his weight was doing great, its been this last 4 months or so, that he has been a little skinny, but he eats me out of house and home now, now that he has started on table food, so since you mention it, its a good Idea to go and see the nutrionist again. and thanks for the tip on Pediasure.

And as far as his swollowing, his swolling is good, but its the chewing, we are still having a problem with, but because of the different textures of the food, I think he is learning that he needs to break down his food now, because he use to suck until it was mushy enough to go down, but now I see him moving his mouth in a chewing fashion, so I think maybe it could be the transistioning from baby food to table food. I blend his food and depending on the texture, I smush it with a spoon, but it makes it so much easier.

Have a try on pediasure, Its a nutrition formula for tube and peg fed babies and children with eating problems and low gain weight . my daughter is on that and thats all she will have unfortunately. It's got all the protein and nutrition, Is your son seeing a dietitian by chance.

Another thing has your son ever chewed on foods ever. and the swallowing is okay. My daughter has chewed and swallowed but for the last 13 months has not had everything to chew and with the swallowing she seems to choke my mouth where if she has tube feeds through the nose were also in OT and speech, Were booked in again for another gastro test to see if her swallowing is fine .

Have they suggested any info to his chewing problem . Does he seem to have the puree food in his mouth with swallowing it properly and without it dribbling out of his mouth.
