My son is 5 years old going to Pre-K. He will be 6 years old this October 2012. He tells me he wants a sister or brother like his friends in class do. He tells me lets go tO the store to buy one so I know he is serious about having a sibling. Should me and my hubby try for one already wOuld the age difference be to much apart?

It's up to the two of you. There is no right time or wrong time really. If you want another child, there is no time like the present. Don't keep putting it off because it will never happen that way.

No more difficult that if they were close together. My two are now 14 and 7, and they get along reasonably well, although they DO get on each other's nerves at times. But to be honest, I wouldn't say it is difficult. Sure, when we go on holidays, sometimes we have to alternate the activities, because it can be difficult to cater to both ages at once, but we tend to have managed this quite well :). Same with when we go to the movies, we have to be more aware of the ratings for the 7 year old, rather than the 14 year old. But these have never been a major issue for us, just considerations. To be honest, however, my mother would have had those same considerations because she had 8 years between me (the oldest) and the youngest of my 4 brothers. So it is the same consideration a lot of parents have.

(JODI) hey thanks for respOnding to my post. I do want one and I think now is time. I really want a girl so I can have my pair. I just didn't know if being about 6 years apart would be difficult

It's up to you. Don't do it because your son wants a sibling, do it because YOU want another child. The age difference isn't an issue. I have 7 1/2 years between mine. Ultimately it comes down to whether you want another one or not.
