There is a wide range of thoughts on this. I for 1 say when you think it is time. We were told Joey may not walk at all ( dr. gave us the "he may be a vegtable speach because of ds") He was about 6 months old when I first put him in one. the commerical of the child runnging all over the place in his walker is about the way I remember the following months. He was almost 2 before he "walked". He ran in his walker before he walked alone. The pt and dr. did not want us to use a walker. but that is one of the cases that grandma and mom knew best. ALL WAYS consider what pts, drs. and dr. grandma tell you then do what YOU THINK IS BEST. there are very few times I regret not doing as MD said to do to do what I thought best. He went to prom last week and will finish high school next month

I don't think you should put him in a walker at all. They're actually illegal in Canada just because so many babies have been injured or killed while using them. Nobody I know uses them and all their kids have learned to walk just fine. ;)

I put my daughter in one when she could hold herself up at 4.5 months, her feet didn't reach the floor until she was 5 months but I used it to feed her before I was able to use a high chair. She started "walking" in it at 7 months (she preferred crawling) I stopped letting her in them when she was 8 months old because she would run down my heels and hurt me. So I let her learn to walk without it. Cruising by 10 months walking by 11 months. Its all up to you. Some people think they're dangerous and some love them. I wasn't fond of using them since I heard they don't teach the child to walk, just pushing forward.

I'd say when they can support themselves. Alot of people are against baby walkers and say they are dangerous I thought this was a load of rubbish and my oldest two loved theres then my youngest had one a week, rather happy in it, then one day I looked over and my daughter was laid on her belly next to the walker 3 adults in the same room totally batheled at how she had gotten out of it! I put her in again and was utterly gob smacked as she lent over then twisted her body and slid out of it like a snake!! Luckerly she didn't land on her head either time, needless to say I passed the almost brand new walker on to the my cousin's baby who hasn't had a problem.
