If you are not willing to try every avenue of care, then you are not doing your job as a parent.
You need to do some research. Your son's condition is not improving and by negating suggestions for treatment, you are as much at fault as your son's current treatment plan.

I work with children who have had to be placed in facilities before, and to label any reputable place as "some crazy house" is unfair and unkind to every family that has been helped by one of these centers.
If your son had cancer and needed to be hospitalized for a long time you would not resist that, would you? He is obviously ill and not responding to 6 years of therapy and medication. I wish I had a better answer, but unless you exhaust every single option; you are only hurting yourself and your child.

I don't know if any of these facilities are options for you but maybe you can check them out:

While it is hard to fathom that a child may need to be placed in a treatment center at 10, it does happen. The best thing you can do is press on and keep asking for help.

Nina, these ladies are just trying to help.

At the next session you have, bring this up to his therapist, and see of they suggest more.

Get him help now before it gets worse, call your insurance and see what types of help they will provide. Talking to his school would help also as i'm sure they have resources that could be beneficial best of luck to you and your child.

If behavioral therapy and medication are not helping you need to continue to up the intensity of his treatment. You may need to take photos or video of his behaviors and show them to his doctor. His safety is on the line and he might need to be in a long term treatment center for children. He is only going to get bigger and stronger. He might hurt you, himself or a sibling. Where do you live?

Call his pediatrician and get a referral to a child psychiatrist. He may need an inpatient stay or just some sort of therapy, but his behavior is not normal, safe or acceptable.
