The only nasal aspirator you should use is the one from the hospital, and don't close off one side to suck the other. Just squeeze the bulb a little bit, put it in a few mm and gently let go of the suction. Rinse in out between sides. DO NOT repeat over and over, it just makes it worse and can cause trauma.
Yes you can use your own mouth to suck out the snot, definitely advice given to moms of preemies. A drop or two of breastmilk in each nostril can help loosen the snot up as well and make it easier to suck out.

GENTLY use one of those bulb thingies to suck the snot out. Or you can place your mouth over his nose and suck the snot out yourself (yes, that is actual advice from a pediatric nurse when the parents just wouldn't quit calling her for the SAME issue over and over again).

What do you mean by "punch his nose"???
Using a cool mist humidifier helps break up the congestion, and bringing him into the bathroom while you are taking a steamy shower.
If you literally mean punch him in the nose,....stop. That does not help, and hurts. Make him cry, and you will see he will be more congested.
