My 6yr old was recently expelled from school for misconduct. He gets upset when he doesn't get his way so he gets angry and display implusive behavior. He tends to not listen to his teachers, he disrupts the class, kicks and hits his teacher in rage. His behavior in school contrast at home. He is the only child, he is very bright. I'm a single mom and can use some guidiance on improving his behavior. Please help.

Thanks for your guidiance Jodie, I will reach out to the school. There are other strategies I've considered. I will keep you posted. Keep us in your prayer :)

Address the issue of the friends picking on him. You need to address this with the school. Why are they picking on him? (They aren't really his friends, are they?). You also need to discuss appropriate reactions with him. If his behaviour is violent because he is upset, he needs to learn strategies to help him manage his anger. Have you considered making an appointment for him with the school counsellor? If you talk to someone at the school, they may be able to arrange a referral for him and that may help him with the strategies he needs to manage is impulsiveness.

I take things away, like games, toys, activities etc. He seems to do well and on the right course than something else happens. Most of his issues stems from friends picking on him, which turns into something else. What do you suggest?

What are the consequences he is receiving at home for his actions at school? Clearly his behaviour is totally unacceptable and he needs consequences.
