My 5 month old son has a dry cough that is a very short cough, meaning very little air is expelled from his lungs when doing so. He has had this cough, which periodic throughout the day since he was about 4 weeks old. I was wonderig if anyone has any feedback to offer? Thank you in advance :)

I think you were misinformed. She started is pretty young and still does the cough to get attention. I have been worried about asthma due to family history and the doctor said she would wheeze, not cough, and when she would breath in her stomach around the ribs would suck in a lot.

@ Tegan- Did your daughter begin doing this when she was very young? I posted this question publicly because I had someone tell me that it could be early signs of asthma, that the cough were short because he was attempting to get the last bit of carbon dioxide out of his lungs to better breath in oxygen.......Unsure if this may be true or if I was misinformed and one can never believe everthing they are told by their child's pediatrician, at least I don't. Thank you for your reply. My concern is that he started so young and still does this......

my daughter does a dry cough for fun. I figured out it was for fun coz I caught her smile once I looked. Ignored the "fake" cough and she doesn't do it anymore.
