Its not that big a deal. BF kids sometimes still wake for a night feed until they're around 2.

It could be that he's in a routine, or it could be that his metabolism indicates that he intake food at that time.

If you want to retrain his sleep schedule, your husband will have to sleep with earplugs for a few days.

It may be hunger, most likely it is a habit. Babies in general can sleep through the night without feeding by 6-7 months, I say can, not will. Certainly if a child is consuming adequate calories during the day at almost two, he does not NEED the bottle during the night. Try decreasing the volume by a half a ounce at a time, when you get down to two ounces, start diluting the milk.

My son was breastfed and was not ready to night wean until he was 2. I started encouraging him to sleep all night starting at 18 months, but I never pushed it and it happened when he was ready w/out any stress and very few tears.

My routine for my 14m old is to load up her milk with cereal (the kind babies eat).. Thick enough it fills her up but not too thick since she drinks it out of a bottle. She gets full longer that way. I specifically uses the Gerber oatmeal one. I give her that milk bottle about 30min before bed,and change her diaper right before i put her down. Then when I go to put her down I give her water since she's already had her milk she takes the water and falls asleep until morning. She goes to bed at 9 wakes up 6-7is then I give her regular milk and she falls asleep for another hour.... We started this routine because she was still waking up and we needed to rinse the sugar from the milk off her teeth so they wouldn't rot

Zarin, maybe your son is hungry that is why he's asking milk. Figure out what makes him asking milk at night.

Yes.....if you wanted to brush their teeth after the bottle or sippy cup of milk in the middle of the night then you don't have to worry about the milk rotting the teeth, but most people don't do or want to do that. But that could be an option.

Brush the teeth then. I started brushing my son's teeth when when he's got 8 teeth. Now he's got strong and beautiful teeth.

I know how you feel mom. I've been in the same situation before. What is wrong with giving him milk anyway?
