Hello, my 16-month-old son wakes up at 5am. I was putting him to bed at 7-7:15 and the doctor said I couldn't expect him to sleep longer so try a later bedtime. Now we have been putting him to sleep at 8pm, but still the same situation, 5am. Now I'm concerned he's just getting less sleep. Any tips for getting him to sleep later. We have a fan in his room for white noise and it's still dark at 5am so the light isn't waking him up.

Thanks, Dawn, we are early risers as well (5:45am on weekdays), so I guess my issue is more that he's getting enough sleep. We do live next to a service driveway and trucks start coming in around the time he wakes up, so maybe a noise machine might be worth trying. I just want to make sure he's getting enough sleep. He seems tired to me in the morning, like he's not quite ready. I put a sippy cup of water in his crib as the doctor recommended, but as far as I can tell he never touches it, except if he's mad on occasion he throws it out of the crib :-)
