Hi friends,
My son wants to join a cult.
This does not sound like a good idea to me but I want him to have the freedom to do what he wants. The Cult is called "LaVeyan Satanism" and he is really into it.
Apparently they require donations of money excess of one thousand dollars. I am happy to fund his satanic dream but I am a devoted christian.
What should I do?

As you being devoted Christian my advice is to try and steer your child to Jesus and not the cult. But if you are happy to fund it it doesn't seem too convincing that your truly a devoted Christian, best wishes!! Jennifer Lucifer,.........

Julia: When you have been around here as long as Dove, Sarah, myself and a few others, you will be able to see when someone isn't really wanting help.
The OP has been given the correct advice but she refuses to acknowledge it and instead focuses on 1 persons comments, just like you.
This is an international open forum, anyone can post in whatever conversation they want, no one has the right to say someone else can't post.
I would suggest that if you can't handle another perspective on things then get off the internet.

My comment still stands, don't give him the money and when he is old enough to earn his own money and pay them then he can join.
He's only 10, he doesn't know what he really wants. At the age it is your responsibility to guide him and maybe you should be guiding him in another direction.

Jennifer--
A child of this age should not be subjected to that cult until they are of age and can make that choice for themselves. No Christian mother that I know personally would steer her child in the direction of the Satanic Cult. And Boazhai--religion at an early age is important but there are laws in place about school. But children should not be exposed to the Satanic Cult until they are older.

Also Julia, Jennifer is a devoted Christian. According to the rules on the site of the cult she named, she would have to leave her faith and join this organization for her son to even be eligible to join. Sort of makes it a moot point.

Hi Jennifer

I'd say do what your son wants, his happiness is your priority. I'm a member of the cult, and I find it spiritually eye opening, and really has a lot to say about you. Go for it.

And I answered you question:
You kids cannot join this cult unless you are a member. Do your research. I found that info in about five minutes.

You don't want advice... you were given advice that you immediately dismissed. I don't for one second believe any of your posting is true... so therefore I will respond anyway I please whether you like it or not.

Yes, Michelle... one of the many reasons I called troll when this was first posted. I'm not buying it or that other post for a second... but hey, the internet gets a little slow sometimes. lol

Since I take the time to investigate what people post about in order to form a response, I have an answer for your question. He cannot join. Minors may not join unless their parent or guardian is already a member AND the child expresses their will to join the cult. So unless your going to turn your back on Christianity and join this cult, your kid can't join.

Dis is Ridiculous!!!!!! If truly u are a Christian like you claim to be, I believe all u need to know is in ur Holy Bible, but for the records, God made u a caretaker over that child and his blood will be required from you

"My son wants to join the satanic religion and I will not restrict him from being a satanist like you restrict your children.
If you can not respect my position on this situation then go away and restrict your children from freedom."

So you don't ACTUALLY want an answer to your question "What should I do?"

No problem. I won't answer that question then. But I will ask if, when your son is 15 and wants to become an drug addict, will you let him do that too? Because he should have choice about what he does to his body?

The fact that you won't legitimately address me calling you out as failing your duty as a Christian mother is all the proof I need that you are full of crap, so... lol

I don't have to go away... you want to troll w/ this nonsense then I get to respond to this nonsense. If you don't like it... you can go away just as easily.

Hi Dove,

My son wants to join the satanic religion and I will not restrict him from being a satanist like you restrict your children.
If you can not respect my position on this situation then go away and restrict your children from freedom.

And I'm well aware that school and religion are different things... my point was that a child of 8 or 10 does not know what is best for them and it is a parent's job to guide them towards the truth. Making your child happy is not the important part of parenting. If you want to fail God and your child... well, go to it, but why did you bother asking 'what should I do?' when you clearly don't care about the truth in this situation...

Then stop calling yourself a Christian because by allowing this you are neglecting the DUTY that God gave you. If you aren't a Christian... fine, but don't claim to be a follower of Christ and allow your 10 year old to experiment in anything satanic... that is sick and completely disrespectful to the Christ you claim to follow.

Hi Dove,
School and religion are different things. For Timothy school is compulsory.
I believe that children have the right to choose a religion.
You may restrict that freedom for your children, but let me do what I believe is right.

Hi Ev,
I am aware of the rituals conducted in the satanic church. I am comfortable with my son participating in these rituals.

Fair point. Education and good grades are very important but I believe religion comes first in this hierarchy of childhood.

My 8 year old son would be 'happy' ditching school every day of his life... as his mother it's my job to make the decisions that are best for him regardless of what makes him happy.

I'm sorry but I think that's really disrespectful. Children should be able to step outside their comfort zone and I am not liking this radiating negative energy coming from you.

*What should I do?

So you didn't really mean that? As a Christian mother it would be your God given duty to steer him FAR away from this idea... so either you aren't a Christian... you don't really love your son the way God wants you to... or you are not for real. There are no other options.

Jennifer, I really think that this is a healthy idea. I, myself, am a secular Satanic worshipping mother. I do not often follow EVERY ritual but I think that your son should really go outside his comfort zone.

I appreciate your opinion Dove,
I know that this is an unusual situation and that these are clashing ideas between satanism and christianity but I love my son and I want him to be happy.
It doesn't matter to me as in our mother-son relationship that there are differences between us.
I appreciate your concern,
Jennifer

You claim to be a Christian mother yet you are willing to fully support your 10 year old eyeliner wearing son joining a Satanic cult... As a Christian mother I am desperately hoping you are a troll because your entire post disgusts me on every possible level....

I'm sorry,
I thought this site was to discuss parenting and issues that mothers have.
If you can't respect my religion and my sons belief then go and do something better than telling people that they are wrong for believing in something.

Maybe helping people is better than calling people "trolls"

Thanks Michelle,
He can't get a job as he gets rejected from jobs for wearing too much eyeliner.
He is ten years old and isn't old enough to earn money

If he wants to join then he can pay, you don't have to if you don't agree with it.
I certainly wouldn't be!!!
