my son has his 2nd case of croup right now, this time bad enough he had to go on meds.... taking him out in the cool/cold air is the absolute BEST thing for him, it helps more than anything. the worst of it is usually over by the 3 day, and watch his breathing (especially at night) if he's really having a hard time (you'll hear it) take him back to Dr or ER right away for breathing treatments.

From what I have heard about croup, it sounds scary, but I guess it's not as scary as it sounds (if that makes since). I heard that there is really nothing doctors can do about it, it is one of those things that just have to pass, but there are things you can do to try and make your child comfortable (i.e. use a humidifier).
I didn't know that children that young got croup, have you seen a doctor and what did they say about it, especially with him being so young? I think normally children with croup loose their appetite so if he is still eating and keeping the food down, then I say that is probably a good sign. I heard that it doesn't last long, usually about a week, but since he is so young, I would definitely say keep a close eye on him. Sorry he has to go through that.
