What's the best way to show a teenage boy that wearing a groin pad during sports is a good idea?

Actually, come to think of it, my son who was in sports never suffered a groin injury. It was my other son, who wracked himself on his bike when he was 8 that I've spent around $75,000 in medical bills for...

If his coach can't convince him... let it go. He'll learn if he ever gets hit.

I guess it would depend on what sport your son is playing. My 9 year old plays baseball and football. He wears protection. My son likes to wear boxers, so we found him a pair of protective underwear that looks like a pair of bicycle shorts. The cup goes right in a pocket. He says they are comfortable, and he's protected.

Depends on the sport. Most don't require them, or mention them as an option.

Unless you have people that can (through personal experience) explain possible complications of a groin injury, I doubt you'll have much pull. Have you talked to Coach?

Allow him not to wear one and see what happens? What sport are we talking about? My son plays contact sport and has never worn one.
