my sons speech??

My youngest son was 2.5yo and didn't use 2 word sentences and we only spoke one language. It's not the number of languages used; it's his willingness to use the language(s). My son is in speech therapy now (has been for almost a year) and has made great strides in language development. His therapist noticed that he had a slight tongue-tie which made it difficult to make some sounds. Since his tongue was "clipped," his language has exploded and he is now willing to attempt sounds that before were too hard for him. If your son's language really concerns you, bring it up with his doctor at his next appointment. Otherwise, just encourage him to use his words and his language should develop normally.

Common situation on my end too. My son didn't start speaking until he was almost 3. He would make his needs known with the least amount of speech possible. We also speak many languages in my household. When I say many...I mean english, french, kiswahili, lingala, and spanish. It is okay. It is not your fault that He isn't speaking yet. He will when he is ready. My son not only talks my ear off now but he is quite intellectual as well. Give that child some time and give yourself a hug! Good Luck!
