Hello everyone. This is my first time posting on this site & I must confess I'm not a mom..but this was the best site in my opinion. Everyone seems to be really open and honest. I need that because it seems a lot of you on here have been through the military with your husbands. I need some knowledge ladies:) So me and my fiancé are getting married in August & he leaves for boot camp in November. & well I'm just wondering what all of you amazingly strong moms have done to keep busy?? Also ways to cope with him being gone so long. I also have a question. I recently found out that my fiancé Jeremy is either thinking of being a mechanic or a driver for the Marines & I'm just wondering if anyone has any idea how long both those schools take.
I won't lie I'm nervous but God has given me peace about it even though this is something I never thought I'd be able to handle but I love him & he's well worth it. It's scary for me I guess because we haven't been apart more than a week and we've been together for 3 1/2 years so I'm curious as to how I will handle it all considering my family isn't close to me so he's really all I have as far as family goes..I think that's what makes this so hard for me. I appreciate everyone who reads my post and hope I don't effend anyone for not being a mom.

I don't know that I can offer much advice, but I wanted to share that my nephew and his girlfriend (now wife) were in a similar situation. They got engaged before he went to basic training (Air Force). They stayed together through his training to be a mechanic on aircraft. I can't remember how long that was, maybe 3-4 months. Then he came home and is working on Base. They did things a little backward in that they got pregnant before getting married, but they recently married and then had a beautiful baby boy. Another one of his friends recently married, and his wife is now in training (been gone about two months with I think 6 weeks left). It can be done, it just takes determination and love. So, hang in there. I'm sure you're strong enough to make it through.
