My three year has taken a turn and is being really definant and not listening, patitence is wearing thin what can we do apart from distract her?? any advice is appreciated!

Ugh, mine is doing this too. I don't think distraction is the best way to deal with it, give her one on one attention and solid boundaries and I think that will work better. More tantrums, but happier kid and parents in between times. :)

For my son, when he refuses to obey I remove him from the situation and I hold him on my lap and force him to stay there until he's calmer. I can tell on the days when I haven't been touching him enough and having good quality time with him, he acts up just so that I will hold him, it seems like.

Yup. Sounds like a typical 3 year old. It is not about distraction, but giving the right kind of attention. Also, they are learning how to push buttons and take things to a whole new level. Good luck. You will survive. I am in the middle of this myself. Little buttheads.
