My three year old won't five up his thumb.

I have tried everything including trying to tell him that his teeth will fall out, that stuff you paint on their thumbnails. I have sat there while he is going to sleep and took his thumb from his mouth, etc. Any advice? His teeth are starting to turn and I need this to quit. I'm not rich and I can't afford braces.

He will most likely stop before his permanent teeth come in around age 6 or 7. Peer pressure from school will be the best deterrent. But don't lie. His teeth won't fall out from sucking his thumb! Set boundaries of when he can suck on his thumb but he is only three...don't expect him to give up his comfort sucking just yet.
