My two month old son won't go to sleep unless he is being rocked. I would like to teach him to sleep on his own but he just won't. I don't like leaving him in his crib crying so I stay by his side rubbing his tummy and singing. That doesn't seem to help at all. As soon as I pick him up and rock him he goes to sleep. How do I teach him to sleep on his own without letting him cry? He is fed and has a clean diper before going to sleep. It just kills me to see him cry and cry I wish he wouldn't :( help please. Anyone.

Jackie is right. A lot of babies are this way. And at such a young age, teaching a sleep pattern to them is not going to work. The reason is this: A baby under the age of one changes their sleep patterns a lot over the first year. So many things are changing as they grow and learn to turn over, crawl, reach for things, smile, play and other things. They change their schedule a lot and there is not much that can be done about it but to ride with it. That is the best advice. Take naps when you can and try to get someone to come in and help you with the baby so you can have those naps.

I feel for you! None of my kids ever went to sleep on their own. They were all rocked to sleep every night and I was a very sleep deprived mama. I honestly don't have any advice because nothing worked for me! I'm just here to say I know how you feel. It is frustrating. Hang in there.
