I have a two year old little girl who was born with hypotonia. We've have genetic testing done and nothing came up. She is currently on her third class of physical therapy and I just want to know if there are any other moms out here that have a child with hypotonia and how long did it take for your child to speak and walk?

My son will be three in Dec and is army crawling and will take steps with assistance. He baby talks but nothing really concrete, a lot of dada da, baba ba, and yeahs. We have another Shinner's apt to rule out any Nero-muscular disorders. As of now he has the Begin Congenital Hypotonia diagnosis.

We are still at the "wait and see" stage and that is very stressful. We have hope and faith that he'll walk and talk with his peers and big sister. He is progressing but it is at a very slow rate.

He sat up independently just before his second birthday and they say that is a good sign for walking in the future; sitting in their second year of life.

He has Physical Therapy, Speech and a session with an Early Interventionist once and week.

He is very thin but when he wants to use his muscles he is strong, its just when his muscles are at rest, they are really at rest.

I hope this was helpful. I know for me, I cry almost everyday, sometimes its happy tears and others are tears of fear. I want my son to have everything but I am getting to a "better" place and enjoying this life for him, knowing that God makes no mistakes. This life on earth is nothing compared to an eternity in heaven where we are all "equal".
