My older kids would've quit napping right at 2. I forced the issue for about 6 months before it became more of a struggle than it was worth. Sure, they fell asleep in their dinner a few times, but they didn't need a nap anymore and adjusted very quickly without it.

My youngest quit napping regularly at 3. He wasn't ready to give up naps, but that's how it happened. By 4... if he naps... bedtime is a NIGHTMARE.

Your child may or may not be ready to give up naps, but a quite time is good for both of you. Stories and/or a movie on the couch may be all she needs to fall asleep. It really depends on the kid.

My 2 year old still likes a nap around 1 o'clock most days but her older sister stopped napping way before she was 2. I never force naps thou. My friend put's her son in his room regardless to wether he sleeps or not "quiet hour" like Amy suggested but that would just frustrate my daughter who hates bed time as it is. I belive each child is different and you have to find what works the best for you :)

My 2 1/2 year old only naps when she's sick or gets up really early. If she does take a nap then she's up till 10:30 at night. I know many moms still enforce a quiet hour if there kids no longer nap.

Yes, children really do need to nap until at least 4-5 years, although some parents say that their children grew out of napping early. What time does she lie down for nap time? What has she been doing before nap time? How dark is her room? Is it noisy in/around your home? WHat is she doing during bap time?
