My son napped on me frequently until he quit napping... at 3.25 years old. It couldn't happen all the time, but if you can... there's nothing wrong w/ holding your child while he naps. You can try waiting until he is deeply asleep to lay him elsewhere (worked for my son quite often, but if he wasn't asleep enough... he'd wake up and nurse back to sleep again and I'd try to lay him down again). You can keep trying to lay him down for naps, but don't worry so much if he sleeps on you if you can do it.

Yes tried that. Will keep trying.

I didn't explain the naps.

Morning nap: 2 hours after waking up 30 min to 1 hour
Afternoon nap: 2-4 hours
5 pm nap: 30 min-1 hour or does not happen if he slept 3-4 hours in the afternoon.

Which makes total of 4-5 hour day time nap until sleep. Which is normal.

Since he sleeps in his crib at night, maybe try to recreate that system for naps? Change him to sleep wear, nurse and lay him down is the dark quiet room. You can wake him after an hour or 1.5 hours if he seems to be settled in for a long sleep.

3-4 hours is a long nap.... especially 3 times/day. If he's really sleeping that much when is he ever awake? 1-2 hour naps are more logical. My son was a cat napper too. He probably never napped longer than 45 minutes until he was down to one nap a day... and then he'd nap as short as 5 minutes or as long as 3.5 hours (and not on my lap for that... no way).

Just keep trying... if he only naps for 10 minutes, then he only naps for 10 minutes and he'll be tired for another nap earlier. If he's napped for an hour on you and you need to put him down to pee or something... go ahead. ♥

Thank you for your reply. I love him sleep on me. But when it is 3-4 hours long, it makes it really impossible. I can't go to the loo or get water or cook etc. I have tried many times to put him down when he is deep asleep but he wakes up 10 min later. He doesn't like laying on the bed with me either. Maybe and hopefully he would grow out of it but yes still I will keep trying. We started trying because when you are sick, you can't sit up for 3 hours not moving.
