I have a 7 month old boy. He sleeps thru the night usually from 9 to 6. But he won't take long naps for me maybe 20 to 30 min at the most. But my mom and mother in law have no trouble getting him to nap. He just getting grumbling if he doesn't nap.the only way i can get him a good nap is holding him. I've tried laying him with blankets on each side. (Watching him closely with monitor). Not sure what else to try???

He's a mama's boy! Babies know when it's mom. I run an in-house daycare and the babies always take better naps here then at home. You could try putting pictures/ mirrors on the ceiling/walls to catch babies attention and remember, not every noise is a ready to get me mom noise! Sometimes babies wake up by talking/ so wait a minute or 2 before picking baby up. And if he can see or smell you, it's all over:) It really is a good thing!

I nursed my son to sleep for every nap for 3.25 years... nothing at all wrong w/ it. Naps don't last forever. He also never napped longer than 45 minutes at a stretch (and 20 minutes was normal) until he was down to one nap/day. Treasure this time because it will pass all too quickly.
