My 8 year son was diagnosed with selective mutism at age 5 and through out the years with help from a selective mutism specialist, counselor(at school), teachers, and speech teacher(at school) he has come so far. He now speaks in restaurants and our home, but not in school yet. As Alex gets older we hit new barriers, his needs are changing, the kids are becoming less excepting, and tests he takes are getting worse. I've been avoiding anti anxiety meds with fear of long term affects they may cause. We have tried juicing our fruits and veggies, adding stuff that are known anti anxiety remedies and it has helped a lot. However I was wondering if there was any other remedies that may benefit my son. I want to help him so bad, I want to take away his anxiety, I'm trying everything in my will, sometimes with no cure. I'm scared for him. If he gets on the wrong bus or lost or if someone hurts him. He was bullied for 2 weeks by a boy in the bus and he never told me, a friend came to our house and told me. I just want to protect him and I feel like I can't. I can't be everywhere with him all the time. Oh how I would love to! If you have any information that can help us, please email me. Maybe medication will help, but I just have to try something natural first, something different from what I've already tired. Thank you!
