My son is 18 months is and is considered 'globally delayed'. He has very low muscle tone, doesn't say any words and just started crawling on all fours. however he is slowly progressing. He pretty much is at the level of a 10month old. There is nothing physically abnormal about him. He is the happiest kid, laughs and smiles all the time. Autism has been ruled out at this point. He is getting tested for fragile x syndrome. Is there anything else this could be? Is it possible that he could just be globally delayed and will catch up in a few years?? The not knowing is the worst part and the genetic testing is scary. Any thoughts?
