Need advice about Tax Returns

This seems to be a pretty popular subject. My husband has a daughter from a previous relationship. We claim his daughter on our taxes and give the mother a certain amount. This year, the mother will owe the IRS. My husband says that it fair for us to give her said amount, plus whatever she will owe the IRS. Is he being to generous or am I in the wrong?

I wouldn't say too generous. Chances are, he just doesn't want his daughter's mother to have some sort of debt she will struggle with, which will most likely impact on his daughter. So yes, he is being generous, but that's okay if he chooses to do that. The whole point of the credit is for the benefit of the child, and what is the point of having the mother in debt?
