Hi all, I am looking for some advice,, ihave an 18 month old, he is not walking, he is comando crawling using both arms simultaneously which the neonatologist is concerned about and is arranging an mri. Speach wise he has the sounds ah ma, da ba and hiya none of which are used in relation to specific things, he cannot communicate his needs food drink etc, although we have been baby siging since birth he can only use finished which he uses whenever he doesnt want food, which is all the time, every meal is a struggle and he wont feed himself by spoon or fingers. I engage him in lots of activities, he can place rings on a spindle, my main problem with him, aside from him being so far behind his peers, is he is fixated on chasing things around the floor, he would rather push a square block across the floor that sit and stack them with me, he wont stack blocks at all, every time I try to get him to play he will sit for less than a minute before he finds something to push across the floor. Hes a really happy child I am looking for advice on what I could try to hold his attention, I take him the park etc, we read books which he wont sit still for, the toys for his age range are physically too advanced but he wont play with anything I try him with. I am really at a loss I dont want him only chasing things across the floor, he needs to be learning new skills but shows no interest and im out of ideas, im hoping someone in asimilar situation, or anyone with good ideas could offer some suggestions
